Project Quill is a code name. We will share the real name soon.
The problem
Before an NBFC lends money, an analyst writes a Credit Appraisal Memo, or CAM. The CAM explains the borrower, the numbers and the risks. The credit committee reads it and makes a decision.
The quality of a CAM depends on the people who write it. Large lenders have senior analysts with many years of experience. Their CAMs connect facts across documents and explain what the numbers mean. Many lenders do not have this depth. Their CAMs often copy the numbers and stop there.
What we are building
Project Quill helps a credit analyst write a CAM of the same quality that a top analyst writes. The goal is simple: every lender should get a top-grade CAM, not only the largest ones.
The analyst stays in charge. The analyst checks the CAM, writes the recommendation and signs it. The credit decision always stays with the lender.
Where we are
Project Quill is in research and development. We will share more on this blog as the work moves forward.
If you run credit at an NBFC and this problem sounds familiar, we would be glad to talk.
