Project Domino is a code name. We will share the real name soon.
The problem
Each evening, Indian companies publish news that can change their share price. By the next morning, the price of the company in the news has already moved.
But news about one company often affects other companies too. One may be a supplier that sells much of its output to that company. Another may be a competitor that can win its orders. The news does not name these companies, and the market can take a few days to see the connection. This is called a second-order effect.
Today, fund managers and research analysts find these effects by hand, from memory and from spreadsheets.
What we are building
Project Domino is a research tool for professional teams in Indian markets. After the market closes, it looks at the news of the day and finds the other companies that the news can affect. For each company, it shows the reason and the evidence, so that the team can check the thinking for themselves.
The tool does not give buy or sell advice, and it does not place trades. The team makes every decision.
Where we are
Project Domino is in research and development. We will test it carefully on historical data before any customer uses it, and we will share more on this blog as the work moves forward.
If you work in research at a fund, a PMS or a brokerage and want to know more, we would be glad to talk.
